![]() TRINITY CONFIRMATION Confirmation is a three year program, beginning with 6th Grade and ending with your Confirmation in the spring of your 8th Grade year. Classes begin in October and end in early May. Please register your child online at: https://vbspro.events/p/504b7btrinityconfirmation This year, Confirmation classes are held via Zoom until we are able to gather in person. They will begin promptly at 6:30pm and will last for one hour for each grade level. As ‘in person’ classes become possible, we will send you the appropriate information. There will be no Confirmation class during school vacations or, once we meet in person, when the Rocky Point Schools are closed due to inclement weather or Covid-19. Attendance is encouraged for all classes. On the occasion a student is absent, the student is expected to complete the lesson on their own using the workbook provided. The small group leader is available to help with questions. Workbooks will be collected and reviewed throughout the year. Students will be given notice so work may be brought up to date prior to collection. We will use a new curriculum by Sparkhouse, “Collaborate: Lutheran Confirmation.” Each student has received a workbook for their unit of study. Regular participation in worship is an integral part of growth in the Christian faith. All Confirmation students are expected to attend worship regularly and are required to complete a total of 16 sermon reports each year. Sermon reports forms may be found on the ushers tables in the back of the church or online at www.thefishchurch.com. Click on the ‘Newsletters and Forms’ tab. Currently there are 4 opportunities each week to experience our worship services: In Person on Saturdays at 4:00 pm and Sundays at 8:00 am and 10:00 am, as well as viewing the recorded service on YouTube. Students who serve as acolytes will receive sermon report credit each time they serve and should submit a sermon report with their name & date completed along with “Acolyte” written in large letters in the middle of the form. **Acolyte training will be available as soon as health and safety guidelines allow. “In Person” sermon reports may be left in the collection baskets under the ushers’ tables or you may email them to fishchurchparished@gmail.com with Confirmation in the subject line. Your child may complete the alternative “At Home” sermon report found on our church website under Newsletters and Forms. Christian Service is also an integral part of faith formation. To encourage this attitude, several servanthood opportunities are scheduled throughout the year. Students will complete 10 servanthood hours each year. Students will also participate in one small (or large) group class servanthood project. Servanthood credit is also given to students who help with Sunday School and Youth Club (more information to follow). Jr High pizza and fellowship will resume once ‘in person’ gatherings can take place. Meeting time is for a half hour on Wednesday evenings before Confirmation class begins usually at 6:00pm. We’ll keep you updated as to when this time may resume. We look forward to an exciting year full of Christian learning and fun even as we move forward in a different way. It takes a great deal of effort to run an effective program for so many young people especially in these uncertain times. Parental involvement in the Confirmation Program and Jr High youth activities is essential to the success of the program. Please let Cindy Reinhard or Susan Rutledge know of your desire to participate. fishchurchparished@gmail.com fishchurchyouth@gmail.com * All of our classes are currently held on ZOOM online invite for registered students only.
