Rev. Dr. Peter Boehringer
Pastor Peter is a native of Connecticut where he grew up and is the third of five brothers and one sister. After high school he did his undergraduate studies at Pacific Lutheran University, Upsala College, and the University of Connecticut. Pastor received his Master of Divinity degree from Yale University in 1983, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia in 2002. The core of his doctoral work centered on the relationship of liturgy to the life of the world, and the possibility of ecumenical baptisms within localized communities.
Pastor Peter and his wife, Paula, were married in August 1980, and have two grown children. Their son, Dan, lives in New Hampshire, and their son, Stefen, lives in Pittsburgh, PA with his wife Alyssa, and their son, Jack.
Pastor Peter has served in parishes in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. He also currently serves the larger church as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of United Lutheran Seminary. Pastor Peter is looking forward to sharing in and growing Trinity’s ministry as we look to the future.

Trinity--its people and its pastors
I am pleased you have found your way to our website!
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are located in Rocky Point, New York--a community approximately sixty miles east of New York City on Long Island’s beautiful North Shore.
We are an active church, a congregation blessed with dedicated, hard working parishioners who willingly and generously offer their time, talent and financial resources in support of our many programs, missions and special projects.
Our unique church building appears to many as a large fish, in fact, we are known in the community as The Fish Church. In reality, however, the church is in the shape of an equilateral triangle, a Christian symbol of the Trinity. God is, we confess in the Nicene Creed, “of one divine essence, yet of three persons, equal in power and alike eternal”. This is the universal Christian doctrine of the Triune God.
The gospel of Jesus—the evangel, or good news—is the treasure of our church, the content of our preaching and teaching, and the heartbeat of our mission and service. An evangelical church is one which presents the good news of Jesus Christ as the very center of Christian faith and life, and the standard by which all else is understood, explained, and judged.
We are an intentional Christian community of the Lutheran tradition. We affirm the Unaltered Augsburg Confession, a concise summary of Lutheran doctrine presented during the Protestant Reformation, as a unifying expression of our faith and practice. Lutheranism grew out of the 16th century movement of reform begun by the German theologian and priest, Martin Luther.
As a Christian community we believe that we are created by God in Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and called and sent to bear witness to God’s creative, redeeming, and sanctifying activity in the world.
If you are not familiar with Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, I invite you to visit us. Hopefully this website will give you some idea of who we are and what we are all about. Feel free to contact me at email@example.com. I’ll do my best to answer your questions and address your concerns.
