He is pleased to be working here with Pastor Bruce and it's congregation as they move forward following the retirement of Pastor Jeff Kolbo. Trinity has been well served with two gifted pastors for many years and currently with interim pastor it will continue that tradition. Pastor Rich really appreciates the warm welcome and hospitality from Pastor Bruce, and this wonderful congregation.
He is assisting Pastor Bruce in all of the ongoing pastoral needs of this active and vibrant congregation. Wherever Pastor Rich is needed as an interim pastor, he is open and willing.
Trinity--its people and its pastors
I am pleased you have found your way to our website!
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are located in Rocky Point, New York--a community approximately sixty miles east of New York City on Long Island’s beautiful North Shore.
We are an active church, a congregation blessed with dedicated, hard working parishioners who willingly and generously offer their time, talent and financial resources in support of our many programs, missions and special projects.
Our unique church building appears to many as a large fish, in fact, we are known in the community as The Fish Church. In reality, however, the church is in the shape of an equilateral triangle, a Christian symbol of the Trinity. God is, we confess in the Nicene Creed, “of one divine essence, yet of three persons, equal in power and alike eternal”. This is the universal Christian doctrine of the Triune God.
The gospel of Jesus—the evangel, or good news—is the treasure of our church, the content of our preaching and teaching, and the heartbeat of our mission and service. An evangelical church is one which presents the good news of Jesus Christ as the very center of Christian faith and life, and the standard by which all else is understood, explained, and judged.
We are an intentional Christian community of the Lutheran tradition. We affirm the Unaltered Augsburg Confession, a concise summary of Lutheran doctrine presented during the Protestant Reformation, as a unifying expression of our faith and practice. Lutheranism grew out of the 16th century movement of reform begun by the German theologian and priest, Martin Luther.
As a Christian community we believe that we are created by God in Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and called and sent to bear witness to God’s creative, redeeming, and sanctifying activity in the world.
